It all began at Sunday School. I had just returned from a mission to Bolivia, and as a typical returned missionary couldn’t seem to differentiate the Spanish words from the English. I was commenting and was talking about the Lord’s “voluntad… I mean will. I mean the Lord’s will!” That’s when Taylor perked up. He looked to the back of the room to find out who this Spanish-speaking girl could be! And that’s when he knew he wanted to get to know me a little better. Looking back, I can thank my mission for a lot of things- Spiritual strength, increased ability to wake up early, increased stamina, a desire to serve, a deeper love for the Gospel, etc. But I didn’t know that thanks to my mission, I would have the opportunity to meet my future spouse!
So we got some Peruvian food later that month. We shared a very easy, wonderful conversation over a plate of Lomo Saltado. He even let me take his leftover chicken home with me to eat for lunch the next day! (See photo evidence below) What a keeper.
Taylor treated me like a queen. Often, I didn’t have much time in my busy schedule for afternoon/evening dates. That did not deter him. He woke up extra early to see me and bring me breakfast before my first class. (I later found out that he would walk me to school, walk home, and take another quick nap before his classes.)
8 months, lots of dates, meeting families, summer fun, fall school trials, and tons of ice cream binges together later, we were truly prepared to seal the deal! Engaged on January 28th, 2016 we are now so excited to enter the temple and be sealed for time and all eternity.
We feel so blessed that many of you have shared this journey with us, and can’t wait to celebrate this special day with you!
